Flomatik Network Services are seeking an experienced telecoms focused Quality Control Supervisor to lead, motivate and manage a team of Quality Analysts located in Minworth, Birmingham and remotely. As Quality Control Supervisor you will have experience of quality control checking and procedures. Within Flomatik Network Services we deliver network planning and design packs for a number of operators across the UK in support of core/fundamental planning plus detailed designs for FTTP, FibrePlan IT (FPIT), DPA and PIA solutions. To support existing and future growth with key client accounts, the Quality Control Supervisor will have responsibility for developing and supporting effective relationships with the GIS team, Planning Managers (Detailed Design and Fundamental) and Desktop / Network plus the Project Co-Ordinators (PCO) within Managed Services. The focus of team leadership will be to support and direct the Flomatik Quality Control team (potentially consisting of both permanent and contract resources) and to help Flomatik expand the client network into key areas across the UK.

Main outline duties include:

  • Support the Planning Standards and Quality Control Manager with client requests regards Quality Control planning and design activities
  • Managing work volumes and priorities for the Quality Control team in line with business and customer requirements, ensuring prompt and effective delivery of planning packs in line with monthly WIP forecasts
  • Responsible for the quality standard of work issued to the client - ensuring that the FTTP planning packs created by Flomatik Managed Services planning teams have valid and technically compliant designs, are fully complete and are designed to the appropriate guidelines and standards for the particular client
  • Highlight and escalate major design variances to existing and agreed client planning guidelines and standards
  • Highlight and escalate where necessary anomalies with Flomatik planning pack designs submitted for internal quality checking
  • Ability to interrogate and question a planned network design
  • Ability to draw together different technical disciplines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levels
  • Ensure issues, queries and disputes are managed and resolved promptly and professionally
  • Attention to detail and accuracy coupled with a 'can do' attitude
  • Flexible approach in dealing with amendments and change requests to planned information
  • Work to strict deadlines, whilst delivering high quality work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment or remotely
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst delivering a high-volume quality work
  • Day-to-Day management of the Quality Control team colleagues
  • Prioritising and scheduling of all work activities for the team
  • Ensure accurate completion of all planned submissions and that work is completed on time
  • Adhere to internal and external, regulatory, operational and compliance procedures
  •  Support the Quality Analysts – providing guidance and support as appropriate to ensure customer requirements and business deliverables are achieved
  • Support coaching, development and recruitment initiatives
  • Ensure that the Flomatik Network Services Health and safety policy is adhered to
  • Any other duties which are reasonable to this role

Essential Skills, Aptitudes and Understandings required:

  • Experience of Quality Control activities and supporting processes
  • Understanding of Access Network Planning is desirable, i.e. FTTH, RF, Civil, and telco Planning experience
  • Attention to detail and accuracy coupled with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and also as part of a team
  • Effective communications at all levels including with senior management
  • Competent use and understanding of GIS systems
  • Ability to identify, develop and grow effective relationships with key stakeholders and client primes
  • A calm, agile and positive attitude
  • Ability to resolve disputes quickly, effectively and confidently
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and being PC literate – additional Flomatik and client specific applications will be required (training provided where necessary)
  • Any Quality Control experience desirable

Physical Demands

This role is based in our Minworth, Birmingham office to provide Quality Control leadership and colleague support.  Prolonged periods of time sitting at desk.  Occasional travel to central office or customer sites for meetings will be required.
