Job Description
Our client - a leading ISP - is looking for an IP configuration engineer. You will need to be hungry to learn and want to develop yourself in this fast moving, high pressure, live network environment.
Ideally you will have some experience in a Data Networking, ISP, cable company or related telecommunications environment. Degree, HNC or equivalent in computing, networking, telecommunications or related subject. Demonstrable experience (2 years or more) in an operational environment,  configuring Cisco (particularly 10K or 12K) and/or Juniper/Motorola/Alcatel routing and switching equipment.  Purely theoretical knowledge is not acceptable.  Cisco and Motorola CMTS experience highly desirable, but on-the-job training will be provided.  Self-disciplined, self-starter, with an enthusiasm to learn new skills and a thirst for knowledge.  The candidate must be able to work in a team environment but be disciplined enough to ultimately work alone.  Ability to follow processes and procedures and adhere to quality standards and best practise methodologies.  Candidates must have minimum certification to CCNA (ideally CCNP) or similar certifications in other areas such as Motorola, Juniper would be advantageous. Experience of working for a Cable company would be very useful.
Essential - Arris E6000 and/or Cisco UBR / CR8 provisioning skills and experience.

The typical personal attributes (skills, aptitude and understandings) might include:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and being PC literate – additional Flomatik and client specific applications will be required (training will be provided where necessary)
  • Ability to draw together different technical disciplines
  • Able to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levels
  • Able to identify and work with key stakeholders inside and outside of the business
  • Able to support and input into workflow processes and associated documentation
  • Attention to detail and accuracy coupled with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • An awareness and understanding of current health and safety procedures

This role is based full-time mixed between th customer site and some remote working.  Prolonged periods of time sitting at desk.
