Job Description

Flomatik have a requirement for a deeply technical telecoms professional to support one of Flomatik's strategic clients in an exciting consultancy role; primarily focused on fibre network planning, architecture and passive infrastructure build. This person will have significant expertise in G.PON/Access technologies, understanding optical budget limitations and setting parameters for network design, working relationships with vendors of passive equipment, etc. 

As an acting Flomatik Consultant, you’ll be focused and experienced in understanding the technologies involved with planning both civil & fibre infrastructure in a residential and metro environment. You’ll convey competence in all aspects of civil and fibre infrastructure particularly legislation, regulation and cost modelling.

Outline duties will be varied with the following key responsibilities:

  • Represent Flomatik in all engagements with our client
  • Create and document the clients network principles supporting the overall network architecture
  • Develop the overarching fundamental principles including PoP site identification and Metro Network modelling
  • Develop backhaul principles and manage engagement with backhaul suppliers
  • Support client projects by sourcing and specifying materials and suppliers
  • Able to work in a business development environment
  • Drive and assist key architecture and business decisions based on passive and active optical networks
  • Able to work with a variety of partners in a professional manner – either customers or suppliers (potential Fixed Network Operators, equipment vendors)
  • A keen attention to detail and “right first time” approach to the delivery of detailed delivery models
  • Support the client to establish clear proposals creating clear and robust technical specification documentation

Outlined Deliverables

  • A credible solution to deliver fibre solutions in a Metro environment
  • Assumptions, project plan, costings, presentation
  • Design validation / assurance
  • Justified business and engineering proposal for overall fibre topology
  • Technical proposal for fibre and overall network architecture
  • Illustrated technical document outlining pros and cons of active and passive optical solutions

A typical range of skills, aptitudes and understandings will include:

  • Extensive knowledge in telecom standards, material specification and processes
  • Extensive knowledge in active and passive NGA Network build
  • Highly experienced in civil engineering projects
  • The ability to clearly convey this knowledge within Flomatik and to its client
  • Extensive knowledge in business case modelling and cost justification
  • Extensive knowledge in report writing to senior level
  • A desire for innovation and competition
  • Ability to draw from a range of technical disciplines
  • Solid technical knowledge & document writing skills
  • Able to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levels
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety in the workplace
  • Ability to analyse, confront and negotiate with material suppliers and engineering contractors
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and PC literacy is essential

Physical Demands

This role is based full-time mixed between Flomatik's office, on our customer site and some remote working.  Prolonged periods of time sitting at desk.  Frequent travel to central office or customer sites for meetings will be required.
