Job Description

Flomatik Network Services are seeking nationally based (FttP) telecoms focused Network Planners to join our team. You will be working on a variety of major projects with leading telecoms companies in the UK. The focus of the work will provide plans and supporting technical documents to be used in the expansion of networks into new build areas within specific geographic regions.

With a focus on desktop planning using the latest computer based CAD and GIS based tools this role is taking planning the smart route. If you are familiar with any of these styles of tools then this could be the opportunity for you.

Main Outline Duties and Person Requirement:

  • Owning, executing and delivering planning requirements within a geographic region
  • Delivery of accurate and cost effective standardised plans to meet the client specification
  • Planning and prioritisation of planning work activities
  • Flexible approach in dealing with amendments to planned information and design standards
  • Ensure accurate completion of all planned submissions and work is completed on time
  • Become proficient to highlight and escalate major design variances through our project team
  • Helping with liaison of local authority agents and other third parties as part of overall
  • Buddying and support for new desktop planners

The Typical personal attributes (skills, aptitude and understandings) might include:

  • External and internal planning experience and current knowledge of associated passive network elements and optical budget limitations
  • Civils and Cable Planning Knowledge including NRSWA and Street works practices
  • External site survey experience
  • Fibre to the Premise (FttP) planning knowledge
  • Experience of PIA projects
  • Planning knowledge to 3rd Party sites
  • Proven track record of planning successful projects
  • Ability to draw together different technical disciplines
  • A telecoms background coupled with a planning background is required for this position - you may have worked for one of the major UK telcos which would be an advantage (BT, Virgin Media, etc..) or from an equivalent operator in your local country
  • Attention to detail and accuracy coupled with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • A total awareness and understanding of current health and safety procedures for working in the UK is essential
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and being PC literate – additional Flomatik and client specific applications will be required (training can be provided where necessary)
  • Previous use of GIS systems would be useful

The Process:

This is a one stage interview process. A face to face interview will be required in our Minworth office.

Physical Demands

This role is based in our Minworth, Birmingham.  Prolonged periods of time sitting at desk.  Occasional travel to central office or customer sites for meetings will be required.
