Flomatik have an exciting opening for an enthusiastic individual to work as a quality control analyst on various long-term projects supporting our national planning team. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about telecoms and network infrastructure by working in a valued role, checking designs produced are aligned with specifications agreed with our major clients (UK telecoms operators). This position is suited to a recent graduate or candidate with some exposure to or previous telecoms/FTTP experience.

The role will be based in our Fort Dunlop, Birmingham office where the teams for GIS and planning functions are located also.

Outline Duties Include:

Quality checking FTTP (Fibre to the Premise) network design elements produced by our in-house planning team meet the specification agreed with the client 
Quality checking designs across varying specifications/workstreams – e.g. Fibre Plan IT and PIA 
Ensuring all design elements (schematics, release sheets, fibre allocation sheets) are produced to a consistently high standard
Communicating efficiently across all levels of our planning team to resolve any design queries
Working individually with minimal supervision 

Skills Required: 

A desire to learn and develop understanding of network infrastructure
An ability to work quickly and accurately to meet strict deadlines 
Confident at working individually and as part of a team  
Ability to problem solve and challenge non-compliant results with individual planners
An affinity for error spotting and attention to detail 
Adaptable to changes in specification and versatile to work across differing types of workstreams
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Knowledge and previous use of GIS software packages – particularly QGIS
Relationship builder, great attention to detail, diligent and can see ‘the bigger picture’


Previous exposure to telecoms or network design or engineering
An upper class second degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Geography, Engineering, etc.
