Flomatik are seeking an experienced Programme Manager for an interim (6 month)* position to analyse, organise and coordinate programmes of work. You will oversee the development and implementation of Best Practice project delivery methodologies to demonstrably improve the way we do business.    

We are seeking a person who has good attention to detail, proven experience of managing complex infrastructure deployments in tight timescales and who is able to perform ‘when the going gets tough’. Strong focus on governance backed up by formal PM training/accreditation is desirable. The programme manager will provide strategic analysis and guidance to engineering teams and project managers that promote the company’s culture and develop efficient strategies, procedures and tactics that delight our customers and deliver positively to our P&L. Ideally, the successful candidate will be based from our Birmingham or Fareham offices, with flexibility of remote working. Travel will be required to client and other Flomatik offices.

The programme manager should have:

  • Experience of managing staff of different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner.  This includes the ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams
  • Good analytical skills – able to quickly understand a problem and propose solution(s).
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering change in an organisation
  • Experience of developing PMO process and procedure to ensure project governance is embedded.  
  • Good knowledge of best practice programme and project management techniques for planning, execution, monitoring and controlling projects
  • Sound business case development and approval skills.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • Customer facing skills and credibility which will build sustainable relationships based on trust and common goals.
  • Good risk management skills to quickly and effectively identify and solve or pre-empt problems

Main Outline Duties:

  • Delivery Management – Develop and implement process and reporting tools to ensure project deliverables are documented and tracked, and that milestones are captured, updated and reported as required.  
  • Scope Management - Supporting the definition of project Business Cases (scope, goals, deliverables, costs, timescales, plans, dependencies, resource requirements and milestones).
  • Time Management – Ensure project plans are developed, communicated and maintained for all project stakeholders together with their individual responsibilities; and that throughout the project, that the plan is maintained, deliverables tracked against time and cost, and resource utilisation is monitored.
  • Resource Management - Identify, request and coordinate required internal resources and those from third parties/vendors to ensure flawless execution of project deliverables
  • Communications Management – Defining project KPIs at Start Up and continuously monitoring and reporting on health and progress of the project against KPIs to the Exec Review Team and all stakeholders, escalating upwards as needed.  Ensure Project Management Systems, Document Libraries and Tools are maintained at the appropriate frequency. 
  • Quality Management – Helping to define the quality plan and co-ordinate quality activities to meet quality objectives. 
  • Risk Management –Ensure RAID logs are developed, maintained and reported as per governance. Conducting internal audit to ensure process is being followed. 
  • Change Management – Ensure Change Management is correctly implemented to ensure control of scope change. 

Personal attributes (skills, aptitude and understandings) required:

  • Experience of telecoms programme management is required for this position - you will preferably have worked for one of the major operators (Virgin Media, BT, Vodafone, CityFibre, etc.), OEMs, or one of their Service Delivery Partners 
  • Good working knowledge of different project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile with the ability to choose the most appropriate for any given project are an advantage
  • Good relationship builder, great attention to detail, diligent and can see ‘the bigger picture’, with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Appropriate educational background, preferably in the fields of telecoms and/or engineering
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in telecoms/broadcast/related sector
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Professional certification such as PMP/PRINCE II/PMI, MSP or equivalent
  • An awareness and understanding of current health and safety procedures for working in the UK is essential

What we’ll offer:

  • A competitive day rate depending on experience
  • 8.30 – 5.30 hours (Monday – Friday with an hour for lunch)
  • This is a remote based position

This is a usually a one stage interview process. A face to face or Skype interview will be required in one of our offices.

Security Requirement

A condition of this role is that the successful candidate will be required to pass the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) Check.
