Job Description

Flomatik Network Services is seeking an HFC / FTTH Contract Engineer - Infrastructure to work on a project for one of our larger clients, which is one of the leading Telecoms providers in the UK. You’ll be reporting into the Senior Manager for Power and Infrastructure and the role will be a full time contract. The base of operation will be in a location as convenient as possible for the successful candidate based within the UK and within one of the customer sites. This is a 9 Month contract position which may extend beyond the initial contract period.

Job purpose
  • Reporting to the Senior Manager Power And Infrastructure, this role provides engineering technical authority for MDU build across the entire Company footprint.

  • To take existing specifications – covering MDU build – both HFC and FTTP, review and update if required.

  • To ensure compliance to current regulations relating to buildings, power and cabling.

  • To support queries arising around MDU.

  • To work with suppliers (Via the current Engineering team) to ensure data sheets and build instructions are in place.

  • To work with the Engineering team to ensure alignment of MDU build with strategic view and infrastructure build.

  • To ensure that technical authority is maintained within the team and that MDU solutions maintain the required quality for the Company footprint as well as meeting and local and international regulatory requirements. 

Key Accountabilities
  • Review current Document Suite
  • Update and evolve document suite as required

  • To author new documentation for MDU solutions as required. These will typically be Planning instructions/Engineering guides

  • Review any legislation and ensure compliance (ie Fire stopping, cable fixing etc)

  • To interface with the “build” team to ensure requests are captured and actioned.

  • Cooperation with other employees of the Corporation Technical Department within the framework of current tasks.

  • Produces engineering documentation for publication as required including standards documents, user guidelines,  planning guidelines etc

  • Provides 3rd line Engineering Support as required.

  • Responsible for in-life changes to deployed equipment

  • Works alongside other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of regulatory governance.

  • Recommends and suggests improvements to engineering solutions in order to improve the customer experience, keep our network capability ahead of our competitors, reduce costs, and improve network reliability.

  • Manages workload effectively to ensure objectives are met and works with manager and colleagues to ensure work is prioritised appropriately and aligns with the team deliverables.

  • Demonstrate consistent company’s values -  positive and motivational approach, integrity, respect and accountability.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Five years’ experience in HFC/FTTP networks.

  • Technical - Solid background in telecommunications with a detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of HFC networks/FTTP networks.

  • Exceptional communication skills both written and oral

  • Approach should be lively and positive with a professional attitude.

  • Should undertake work in a pragmatic manner with a focus on delivery

  • Highly self-motivated, hardworking and reliable whilst practically focused.

  • Good MS office skills and strong report writing skills.

  • Willingness to take on a wide range of projects.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
